Physical activity has been proven to significantly improve health by reducing the risks of obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and other chronic diseases.
In partnership with the New Orleans Department of Public Works, Steps is working to make it easier for New Orleans residents to incorporate physical activity into their daily lives.
Ongoing projects include:
- Installation of bicycle racks as part of the Canal Street Improvement Project
- The Lafitte Corridor Greenway with Friends of Lafitte Corridor.
- The French Quarter Sidewalk Project
- St. Anthony Walking Path – Sugar Hill Neighborhood, Phase 1
- City Park Perimeter Loop Trail, Phase 1 (Marconi Drive to Wisner Boulevard)
Steps is also collaborating with the City of New Orleans to create a citywide bicycle route network. A map has been created for use by citizens, advocates and local officials to track progress on the project. The map will be updated quarterly. View the map.
